| Robert Wright Receives MBA in Sustainability |
|
Robert A. Wright, President of Wright Brothers, The Building Company, has recently completed his MBA in Sustainability from the San Fransisco Institute of Architecture. As a LEED Accredited Professional, he has continued his expertise in being green with the knowledge and skills he gained from this education, which include Sustainability, Business Skills, Administrative Action and Strategic Planning in Green Business. In addition, Robert has also received his Renovator Certification which certifies him to work on renovating and restoring existing buildings constructed before 1978. This is just another step in sustaining our future. “We are affected by the seven generationsthat come before us and affect the seven generations that will follow." Francesca M. Boring, a Shoshone elder. As I continue to seek knowledge and skills to preserve our future, I take a look back and acknowledge my heritage that have affected me and who I am.
Wright in our ancestry means "Builder". Wright "Old English" Wythta-- Meaning Worker, Wood Worker, Carpenter, Craftsman. My great grandfather married a Cherokee Indian and my grandfather, Erastus Ferdinand Wright, was known in Kentucky as “the man who built the straightest chimneys”. My dad, Lawrence Leigh Wright, came out west to Idaho with the CCC's during the depression and built stone bridges and structures for the federal government, many still are in use today. Legacy is not only about what you are able to do but what you are unable to do. During the industrial revolution it was “take and not return” because to mankind there was plenty. We thought the earth was ever replenishing and therefore no care was taken. Yogi Berra put into a saying "The future ain't what it used to be."
As a builder, I have the opportunity to focus on sustainability and giving back for future generations. I would rather be known as Master Builder than a great man. The first one defines greatness. My ancestors from the American Indian side taught their children the concept of consequences and believed that what you do today carries ramifications for seven generations. I definitely want to see forward three generations and take care of my grandchildren, which is why I feel it is important to continue educating ourselves in sustainability.
Bob is also LEED Accredited and continues to educate others within Wright Brothers in LEED Certification. Congratulations, Bob! |
