LEED Certification
The sustainability of our future is impacted by the decisions we make today. Wright Brothers, The Building Company has taken a leadership role within the industry by promoting LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) certification among our employees, by building LEED Certified projects such as the Boise WaterShed, and promoting an environmental consciousness amongst our community. Robert A. Wright, President and Owner is a LEED Accredited Professional along with Brian Ellway and Chris Jackson. In addition, Robert Grubb, Zach Higgins, Trevor Wright, Tom Andrews, Scott Larrondo and Mandi Herbert have the LEED Green Associate recognitions.
The Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED©) Green Building Rating System© is the nationally accepted benchmark for the design, construction, and operation of high performance green buildings. LEED gives building owners and operators the tools they need to have an immediate and measurable impact on their buildings' performance. LEED is a measurement system designed for rating new and existing commercial buildings. LEED for New Construction is to assist in the creation of high performance, healthful, durable, affordable and environmentally sound commercial buildings. This addresses design and construction activities for both new buildings and major renovations of existing buildings.
Wright Brothers firstLEED building was the newly constructed Boise WaterShed Education Center, which has satisfied enough credits to apply for a Gold LEED rating. Robert Grubb was a valuable asset to the project team by being able to provide knowledge on green building design, construction, and application of the LEED Rating System through out the life of the project. As demonstrated in the Boise WaterShed project, a thorough understanding of green building practices, principles, and familiarity with LEED requirements, resources and processes. Since then, Wright Brothers has utilized this same concepts in completing several LEED certified buildings including The Springs Apartments (Platinum rating), MDC Building and Verizon Wireless throughout the Northwest.
Green Building Practices can substantially reduce or eliminate negative environmental impacts and improve existing unsustainable design, construction and operational practices. As an added benefit, green design measures reduce operating costs, enhance building marketability, increase worker productivity, and reduce potential liability resulting from indoor air quality problems. In addition, Wright Brothers is an authorized Energy Star builder and each of the owner's homes are rated under the Energy Star Program.
“Our slogan "Building the Future" used to mean building facilities for the use of our future generations i.e. schools, churches, libraries, fitness centers, office buildings, parks and recreational facilities. Given light to the environmental impact these buildings carry through their life cycle, “Building the Future” has now evolved into a different meaning – developing and constructing buildings that balance the needs of the future with their impacts on the environment. . Each and every one of us can make a difference once we refocus our priorities in building a “Lasting” future. “
